Yacht Seaduction 2023

Gosport – Brighton

Thursday 25th August

We returned to Gosport on separate trains as Chris had some work to complete in London.  Carole returned early afternoon and began preparing the boat and us for sailing to Brighton first thing in the morning. There was shopping to buy and put away and several bags of dirty clothes to launder, so Carole was still hard at it when Chris returned. We eventually fell exhausted into our bunks just after 11pm.

 Friday 26th August

We left early next morning keeping out of the way of the ferries heading out of Portsmouth. The wind was very light so we motorsailed most of the way.  We again took the Looe Channel south of Selsey Bill.  We could see all the other yachts heading for the same passage way. Once passed, we set course for Brighton Marina.  We knew that we would not have any issues getting into the marina as we would be arriving near high water.   Carole called the Marina for berthing instructions.  We found our allocated spot but Chris could not get the boat in as there was a large motor boat and the end of the pontoon left no space to manoeuvre so Carole radioed in to the Marina to help us in, which they did.

Once we finished tidying things up we arranged to meet up with our old neighbours from Ipswich, Dave and Angie from “Wind of Change”, who are also sailing the south coast and beyond.  We had a very pleasant evening onboard their boat with Angie cooking us a nice supper.  The evening went very quickly. A big thank you to both of you. We eventually headed back to our boat for a not too late night as in the morning we are to leave for Eastbourne.
