Yacht Seaduction 2023

Eastbourne

Saturday 27th August

We were up and all ready to set off for Eastbourne at 10:00 so that we rounded Beachy Head near low water.  We managed to put the sails up and were making good progress.  As we passed Beachy Head the wind picked up and we put in a reef to keep our sail comfortable. Before long we were approaching Sovereign Harbour and putting the sails away.  A strong swell had developed outside which gave Carole a bit of a challenge getting the fenders out. We approached the lock but decided not to take the first lock in but to wait for the next as we weren’t quite ready.  Once through we were allocated our berth and made a perfect mooring in a tight space.

Our next port of call will be Dover, but the weather does not look that good as the wind forecast is SW F5-F6  gusting F7, so we will make the final decision in the morning. We shared haddock and chips for supper tonight al fresco, before returning for a nice hot shower and an earlier night.
