Yacht Seaduction 2023

Bruinisse

17th July

We paid a visit to the marina office and paid our dues plus bought laundry tokens, then after a cuppa and something sweet, Carole headed off to the laundry room and with the help of the machines transformed a large mountain of dirty clothes into sweet smelling ones for the coming week. Chris returned to help carry it all back to the boat. He then cooked us a supper of Dutch sausages and fried potatoes. We decided that we much preferred home sausages to Dutch ones, but you don’t know until you have tried them. Carole then washed up and tidied away and we decided we didn’t have the energy for scrabble or cards so we just sat and chilled out before bed.

18th July

We woke around 8 o’clock and after our first cuppa, got showered and dressed on the boat. While Chris did some work, Carole tidied up and caught up on our blog. It was a bit cooler today so we took a walk into town thinking we might have lunch out. However, the one place we liked the look of did not open until 5 o’clock, so we bought some fresh bread and pate and returned for lunch on the boat, which was equally good. We spent the afternoon relaxing; Chris having a doze while Carole finished reading her first book of the season. While Chris snoozed on, Carole washed out the dusty cockpit and filled up the rear water tank, although she did have to wake Chris as she couldn’t find where to plug the hose pipe into. (Here there are flaps in the plastic pontoons which house both electricity sockets and water pipes.) With this done, Chris booked us a table at the restaurant De Meeuw and at 6.30 we took a nice slow stroll out for our supper, which was worth waiting for. (Chris had locally caught mussels with chips and salad and Carole had spaghetti with vegetables in a Parmesan sauce.) Portions were large and neither of us finished our meals, so weren’t able to have dessert, which was a shame.

We walked back to the boat even slower and while Chris chilled-out, Carole had a nice chat with grandsons, Liam and Daniel, back home. Both have now finished college/school for the summer and were spending some time together (no doubt some X-Box). A nice weariness was coming over us, so very soon we got ready for our beds. Tomorrow we planned to move on to Willemstad.
