Yacht Seaduction 2023

River Dart – Dittisham

7th  July – Thursday

Chris inflated our dinghy (Tender to Seaduction) on the pontoon so that we could tow it to Dittisham. This is quite difficult if we have to do this out on the water. Once inflated Carole helped to launch it in. We slipped our lines at 12:30 and made our way out of the harbour with our tender following closely behind.   We had to clear Berry Head and then head south west to the river Dart.   First we had to sail eastwards so that we could then tack towards the entrance. This was a good sail with us close hauled up to the Mews Stone. Last time we came to the River Dart we were caught out by the wind shift on the approach so this time we were prepared and took the main sail down in plenty of time. The wind was as expected with everything calming down as we went past the two castles guarding the entrance. We then motored past Dartmouth on the left bank and Kingswear on the right bank and headed for Dittisham, where we found an available mooring buoy for the night, getting our lines on first time.
