River Fal
29th June
Falmouth Poor weather kept us in Falmouth for a few more days than expected, so on
Friday (22nd) Chris decided to fit a new pressure release valve to the water boiler
- a quick job he said (which ended up taking the best part of five hours and left
him with scratched arms looking like he’d been in a catfight!). Carole managed to
sort out some outstanding paperwork and have a clean-up during this time. On Saturday
(23rd) we took a long stroll around Falmouth town centre, stocking up on some necessities.
We then baked some scones on-board and shared a cream tea with our friends, Tom and
Linda in the afternoon.
On Sunday (24th) we joined Tom and Linda for a Sunday roast at a local hostelry and
then sunned ourselves in their garden before returning to the boat to watch England
lose on penalties to Italy. The weather forecast for Monday (25th) looked promising
so we arranged to meet Tom and Linda on their motor boat for a trip up the river
Fal. We set off around 10 am and quickly made progress to some very pretty parts
of the river. We moored at a lovely spot where we were suitably refreshed with tea
and cake. Returning to the boat the drizzle began again and we headed back to the
marina and our boat, where Chris then began checking the charts and pilot books for
our trip next day to Penzance
